Your programs offer excellent value for the auto service business that wants to increase their customer base. For the cost of 5 or 6 quarts of oil and an oil filter, our sales staff will get the opportunity to make a repeat customer for future repair & tire needs. The cost of parts plus the program mailing expense puts your program way below the expense of other marketing that we have tried. I personally find that a small add-on sale at the first visit is very easy - the oil change was free so why not buy that air filter! I also find that many of the customers return within a short time to do an oil change on their second vehicle, or they return for the recommendations that we made during the free oil change. Unlike many of the previous coupon programs that we have tried, the customers that return after that first visit are not expecting to get a discount based on their first experience. Your program is perceived by the customer as a gift and an invitation to try our service at no expense - this is a great image builder for our business and it does not attract the discount customer that is loyal only to the cheapest price on every future repair.

“We found out about you at the Vegas Carwash Convention. Came home and decided to give you a try, even though we've done direct mail before, marginally successful at best. But for the price, we thought it was worth a try. Immediately your design team was on it. The turn-around for proofs and corrections and changes was almost instant. “Our mailing goes out sometime in the next week or two BUT...I have used moving targets in the past under Francesco's Pizzeria in Allison Park, PA. I couldn't have a bad thing to say if I tried. Never had a problem and the few minor squabbles I had were resolved immediately.
I was getting people slightly out of our delivery range receiving our mailing and wanting to place an order. No big deal but just wanted it fixed for the future. I called and spoke with someone who went over our mailing range and fixed it to exclude the areas that were a problem. They even asked me to save the returned free pizza coupons which were from out of our delivery range and reimbursed me for them! Above and beyond. I wasn't expecting that but it was much appreciated. The other involved very few people from time to time moving within the neighborhood and getting a second free pizza from my shop. As far as I can remember I don't think I mentioned it after the fact cause I didn't think much of it but as I find out I guess I should have spoken up. This time signing up, I found out Moving Targets can track this sort of thing. I signed up for it this time and Lisa told me, very pleasant and helpful on the phone by the way, this part of the program was available at the time I had my last pizza shop, 1999 - 2004, so I probably just didn't go along with it then. Thats it! No other problems at all.
I wasn't involved with Loyal Rewards or Birthday Connections then. Both great ideas though. We signed up with the latter of the two but not the former. I don't get on my computer so much and might get involved with a website and the whole nine yards at a later time so maybe Loyal Rewards will be something in the future for us. As of now, I hope the two parts of Moving Targets we are signed up for will do for us what Moving Targets did for me at Francesco's. Overall, I think I got really good returns on my mailing. I think I did about $80 to $90 worth of mailings each month and I used to get about 10 to 15 or sometimes even more returns. And out of those 10 to 15 I would get at least a few who would be regular customers for at least the next 6 months or more. This time around it looks like the Birthday Connections can't go wrong either. You'd have to be crazy not to order something?! Sometimes we would get cheap people who were obviously just in it to get something for free and thats it. But most would order more food along with the free pizza, if it was a delivery, tip pretty well and maybe order at least every once in a while thereafter. Either way, to me it seemed a good way to get word of mouth going. If they were cheap as heck and got nothing but a free pizza delivered and gave no tip, if the food was good, which it was, I figured the very least I got out of it was a satisfied customer and a chance they told at least one other person in the area about their experience with me.
The last time around, after 9/11, I went through some tough times and didn't handle it quite as well as I should have. It was also my first time owning a sole proprietorship business. I didn't think of downsizing my number of mailouts and eventually dropped Moving Targets only to sell the business soon after. This time around times are MUCH harder but I have my wife as a partner and a little more knowledge and patience in the business world. We're not doing nearly as well as we should be doing but the customers we do have seem to be pleased with our food and service. The biggest problem is getting new people to try us since we're getting pretty bad returns on local advertising. I'm not sure if this shop's gonna make it but it's been two years and we're still here at least. I'm really hoping Moving Targets will add at least a little steady business to our shop in the near future and beyond. First, we love the presentation of the actual mailer that the potential new customer receives. It is eye catching and easy to read. It’s not just a coupon but a mailed billboard of our company. It describes our menu items, specialties, and programs with descriptive selling words. I love the personal touch that it has using the potential new customer first and last name. An added bonus is my signature at the bottom of the birthday mailer. I believe that gives the new customer the impression that I personally want to wish them a happy birthday. Birthday customers are great because they never dine alone so we get them in with a strong offer and make our money on the rest of the table. It is very easy to train our staff to up sell the people holding these coupons because they are already getting something for free. Most of the time they may even spend more with us then they would of if they weren’t getting something for free.
Second, our restaurant has a loyalty program. Your mailers have almost all of the info on the coupons to enroll the potential new customer. I believe one of the most important parts of your program is the ease I can enroll these new people and then form a relationship with them via email.
Third, this form of marketing is not only cheaper but way more effective in building customer loyalty then traditional splash marketing. We as a small independent restaurant can’t compete with the advertizing budget of the “big” chains. So we need to do something more personal and direct in order to keep up.
I know a marketing program is working when the customers themselves are talking about it. I even often get a thank you and a nice smile from them when they receive our new coupon.
Your support team is also very responsive to any changes in print or to the program. Your monthly marketing tips are also a good read. Keep up the good work.”

So far I am very satisfied with both of your programs. I started using Loyal Rewards about two months ago. On one occasion, a customer came in to redeem one of our coupons just a couple hours after the broadcast went out. Is it effective? Yes it is. “I just wanted to share some of the results we are seeing in one of my Pizza Hut's that is utilizing the Birthday Connections program. This store is located in Ebensburg, PA. In Pennsylvania, we are having a tough so, with the slowdown of the economy , and the number of people out of jobs. A problem we face in the small town markets, we don’t have the casual dining in out area, such as Applebee's, Chili's or a Fridays, of whose customers may trade down to us, while we lose some of our customers, trading down to Subway or McDonalds.
